market
A trio of HRD-Vincent
motorcycles offered by Donington Auctions in
Melbourne (Australia) sold for solid prices. by Guy 'Guido' Allen,
Feb 24, 2026 The hero lot was the
1951 Series C Black Shadow which went for Au$146,000
(US$103,000, GB£76,400, €87,600), just a shade above
the top estimate.
Good-quality Comets have
been performing very well on the Australian auction
scene in recent months and this was no exception. It
was a 1949 C-series that went for Au$39,000
(US$27,500, GB£20,400, €23,400).
Last on the list was
a 1948 Series B Rapide that went for Au$63,500
(US$44,800, GB£33,300, €38,100). While the upper
and rear frame numbers matched, it had the
disadvantage that the Vincent Owners Club in the
UK was unable to confirm the history of the
engine. That was a significant drag on its value. A host of related
paraphernalia was on offer – see the
full auction results. See the Vincent Rapide in our shed ------------------------------------------------- Produced by AllMoto abn 61 400 694 722 |
