Veloce Aperion The X8 1000cc
two-stroke you didn't know you needed ![]() June 27, 2026, by Guy
'Guido' Allen Here's something for the
rider who thought they had everything: an
eight-cylinder 1000cc two-stroke road bike claiming
280hp at 12,000rpm.
The engine is in, of all
things, an X8 formation. It's being offered by
British firm (out of Oxfordshire) Veloce and is called
the Aperion. That name is derived from ancient Greek
and can be interpreted as boundless or unlimited.
Of course it will cost a
fortune and just 24 are being made with commissions
opening for 2027.
If something just a
little less over-the-top is more your style, Veloce
also offers the Ethereal. That runs what is described
as an L4 two-stroke engine displacing 500cc and
claiming 145hp at 12,000rpm. The company says it will
make 48 examples. You have to wonder just
how much testing these things have been through.
Taking on something like an X8 powerplant of that ilk
is no small ask. The whole exercise feels
like it's more about owning a trophy bike or talking
point than something which might survive more than a
couple of tentative rides... See the Veloce Motorcycles website. *** Subscribe to our
