![]()
Suzuki
overnight released the details on its new-generation
GSX-R1000R, designed with a host of updates including
the ability to meet Euro 5 and package in a revised
electronics suite.
![]() The
GSX-R series has typically been very conservative in the
introduction of rider aids, which has had its own
appeal. The situation changed several years ago, with a
full suite of electronics including stability control,
launch control, all based around a six-axis inertia
measurement unit. The latest GSX-R offers some upgrades
and misses out on the cruise control, however the dash
will be familiar to owners of the model this one is
replacing.
The
engine retains its previous layout, but has had a major
make-over including upgraded crankshaft, new camshafts,
a raise in compression to a heady 13.8:1 (from 13.4:1),
new injectors and so-on. Power is down very slightly
(presumably to meet the later emission restrictions)
from 148.6kW to 143.5 at 13,200rpm.
![]() Pricing
is yet to be announced and we can expect to see the new
model rolling into local showrooms in mid-2026.
