$100k CL350
leads Honda results at Mecum (Jan 28, 2023. By Guy 'Guido' Allen)
![]() Big auctions like the annual Las Vegas event by Mecum
tend to throw up all sorts of extremes. For example one
day we saw a 2005 BMW R1200GS in good shape sell for a
mere Au$4200 (US$3000, GB£2400), we see a 1972 Honda
CL350 K4 sell for an astonishing Au$100k (US$71,500,
GB£57,700). ![]() Now before you dust off your own CL and throw it on the
market in the hope of reaping great riches, there was
something special about this one. It's a Flying Dragon
variant. These ran a special paint scheme in four colours
and seem to be a USA-only model. The custom duco is
supposed to mimic a tie-dyed effect and is time-consuming
to produce. This machine is a restored multi award winner. See the Motorcycle Classics Flying Dragon
feature. Honda CL350 backgrounder and
specs. ![]() Fans of eighties muscle bikes would have gravitated to
this, a 1983 CB1100F
with under 1000 miles (1600km) on the odo. Unrestored and
in spectacular shape, it went for Au$38,400 (US$27,500,
GB£22,200). CB1100F specs and

CBR1000F that went for Au$16,100 (US$11,550,
GB£9300). It was in exceptionally good condition, with
under 13,000 miles (21,000km) on the odo. Average examples sell in the country around a third of
that figure, or less. CBR1000F specs and
backgrounder. ![]() Early Z50s continue to find a ready market. This 1967
low-mile restored example, which has been used as a
static display for many years, went for Au$15,300
(US$11,000, GB£8900). To put that in perspective, we were
seeing 1969 Bonnevilles in good shape selling for less at
the same auction. Honda Z-series
