| Motorcycle Investor mag Subscribe to our free email news Honda CX500B stars at auction Donington results reflect an interesting market (Guy 'Guido' Allen, October 26, 2025) A
                    new-old-stock 1981 Honda CX500B, which has never
been fully pre-delivered or started since it was
shipped from the factory, scored a remarkable
                  Au$23,000 (US$15,000, GB£11,200,
                        €13,000) at the Donington
Auctions sale that concluded today. Offered with part of its
original packing case, it comfortably went past the
                  estimate range of Au$16-20,000
(US$10-13,000, GB£8-10,000, €9-11,000). As has been typical in
recent times, the serious bidding didn't happen until
the last hour of the timed online sale. A very tidy 1983 Ducati
                    900 Mike Hailwood Replica fetched Au$38,000 (US$24,800, GB£18,600,
€21,200). As we witnessed in a recent Vincent auction, Comets appear to be flavour of the year, with this 1951 Series C selling for close to the top end of the estimate at Au$39,500 (US$25,700, GB£19,300, €22,100). This tastefully-modified
                  1973 Norton
Commando 850 looked like it was a solid buy at
                  Au$22,500 (US$14,700,
GB£11,000, €12,600). For those with an eye
for value and weren't afraid of a project, this 1992
Yamaha FZR1000 seemed like a decent prospect at
                  Au$4000 (US$25,700,
                            GB£19,300, €22,100). It presented well,
though the mileage was uncertain and it was
likely to require recommissioning. See the full auction catalogue ------------------------------------------------- Produced by AllMoto abn 61 400 694 722 |
