Suzuki GSX-R1100J - today's time machine (Oct 2021, by Guy 'Guido' Allen) Suzuki's first-gen GSX-R1100 had been subtly upgraded during its brief time on the market by the time the J model rolled around, and even in 2000 – when this ad was published – it was still a formidable bit of gear. Back then the owner of this 50,000km example was asking Au$5650 (US$4100, GB£3000). Now, a good one with those sorts of miles should fetch Au$11-14,000 (US$8-10,000, GB£6-7500) without a problem – look to the high end if there was a stock exhaust in good shape. These were sold just as the local motorcycle market hit a deep slump, so new sales numbers would have been low. Back in 1988, it was priced at Au$11,300 (US$8200, GB£6000) plus on-road costs.
