Bargains and blowouts at Shannons auction (March 1, 2023)
There were some sharp buys and some
blowout results at the latest event Mixed fortunes is the best way to
describe the results of the latest Shannons auction,
with a hint of market uncertainty. A higher than usual
percentage of lots were passed in, however we still saw
very solid money being paid for premium gear. Here are a few highlights...
Arguably
a
bargain for this model. It was in good rather than
show condition. 1973
Triumph Vetter
Hurricane X-75 (lot 108) Au$40,500 (US$27,400,
GB£22,700) A
lot of money,
however prices have been more or less static for
years now. 1980
Suzuki
GS1000S (lot 115) Au$12,500 (US$8500, GB£7000) We
reckon this
was the top-value buy in the auction. Not concours,
but a very clean runner. 1984
Kawasaki
KR250 A1 (lot 117) Au$16,000 (US$10,800, GB£9000) Eighties
two-strokes
continue to pull serious money. 1984
Kawasaki
GPz900R A1 (lot 120) Au$14,000 (US$9500, GB£7900) A
good result
for this model, which had seen prices stagnate over
recent years. 1973
Honda
CB750-Four K2 (lot 133) Au $20,000 (US$13,500,
GB£11,200) This
seems to
be the current bottom line for a well-restored K2. 1983
Ducati MHR
900 (lot 143) Au$31,000 (US$21,000, GB£17,400) Solid
bidding
for an example that needed a tidy-up. 1973
Kawasaki
Z1A 900 (lot 136) Au$45,000 (US$30,400, GB£25,200) Big
money even
for one of these – there’s no sign of demand slowing
down for first-model Zeds.
