Kawasaki Z900 benchmark set (by Guy ‘Guido’ Allen, June 2021) It seems that if you now want a good restored example of a seventies Kawasaki Z900, it will set you back around Au$35,000 (US$26,000, GB£19,000). And you might consider adding a premium for the original Z1 model. That was confirmed by a recent Shannons auction, where $35,200 was paid for a 1976 A4. It follows up a similar result from a Grays auction at the start of May, where an exceptional 1973 model went for $37,500 (US$28,000, GB£20,300). Premium seventies Kawasakis were one of the highlights of the event, with a 1973 H2A we covered earlier selling for $32,500 (US$24,300, GB£17,600). That same Shannons event reflected a buoyant market. a couple of the exceptional results were: Au$70,000 (US$52,400, GB£38,000) for a 1938 Matchless Model X; And $53,500 (US$40,000, GB£29,000) for a 1959 BMW R50 with Steib sidecar. In this case the sidecar itself was arguably worth as much, if not more, than the motorcycle. Here are the full motorcycle results: lot 63 2009 Vespa 250 GTV $9200
