Motorcycle Investor mag Subscribe to our free email news Classic BMW fleet for auction, September 20 Bonhams auctioned off a collection of around 20 classic BMWs in Switzerland today. Two that caught our eye were the R90S (top) and 1952 R51/3 (below). The R90S had an estimate of $18,000-27,000 (US$13,100-19,700, £10,000-15,000) and sold for Au$24,300 (US$17,800, £13,700). See the period road test at Classic Two Wheels Meanwhile the R51/3 was estimated at Au$15,000-21,000 (US$11,000-15,300, £8500-12,000) and sold for Au$14,700 (US$10,800, £8300). There was also a tidy-looking R80G/S on offer (below), which excited some interest. It was estimated at Au$15,000-21,000 (US$11,000-15,300, £8500-12,000) and sold for Au$17,300 (US$12,700, £9800). Two R100Rs went for around Au$7800 each, while bargain of the day was a K100RS in good shape that went for a mere Au$1200. Top price was paid for a 1929 R11 (735cc, below), at Au$39,900 (US$29,200, £22,500).
