![]() Motorcycle Investor mag ![]() Subscribe to our free email news ![]() Mystery bit for the day Sunday shed wrap Sep 1, 2026, by Guy 'Guido' Allen Righto, what is it? It's the main internal
plate for an electric starter kit, which is part of
the Grosset design sold by the spares company owned by
the Vincent Owners Club in the UK. And it's for the
1952 Touring Rapide that's currently living in the
shed. Our bike is still
running 6 volt electrics and so we will have to
upgrade to 12 volt. The external change of
appearance involved in the project is minimal and
we'll be keeping the original parts for any future
owner. In the meantime, it in theory means we end up
with a far more use-able machine. Stroll out to the
shed and hit the button. This is in a stream of
three electrical projects we have backed up. The first is a charging
upgrade for the Harley-Davidson
Aermacchi Sprint 350 SS.
And the second a switch
to solid-state ignition for the Triumph T160,
accompanied by a new modern-type regulator/rectifier
set-up. Watch this space... *** ------------------------------------------------- Produced by AllMoto abn 61 400 694 722 |
